Fantastic experience. You can stop halfway at a small alm for a meal if you don't want to deal with the more crowded, more cafeteria style food at the top. Ticket was $50USD converted from Euro, so not cheap but worth it. The views at the top during nice weather are fantastic.

We were staying a few minute walk from the station so had to go up via the railway. The views at the top of the mountain are amazing. There is a nice cafe and if the weather is okay you can sit on the terrace. If the weather is good my suggestion would be to go up early in the day and walk down the mountain… we wished we had done but the forecast was heavy rain on the morning of the day we went… we found the railway on the way up was nice - on the way down very crowded with people who didn’t have much of a clue about personal space or controlling their kids! Make sure you take warm clothing even in height of summer - it’s quite cool and changeable at the top as you’d expect at the top of a mountain. Tickets for the railway are quite expensive- €99 for a family of three but I suppose it’s required to maintain the system.

One of the oldest of its kind in Germany. If you hike up its great but if you only want to enjoy the scenery and the ride take the Zahnradbahn. 25 Minutes and you are on top of the mountain. Enjoy the view, hikes and lots more. Was a great day and the weather was stunning.

Great place, the weather is really colder (dont forget to get your jackets and gloves even if it feels like a hot day). Nice place for skiing and enjoying the quality attractive scene at the top of the mountain. The view is spectacular indeed. But on the other hand it was really costly. For 4 people we paid 140 € and it was not a fancy train that took 20 minutes to reach the top of the mountain. Also the last train going to the top was at 14:00 and the last return was at 16:00. Furthermore the restaurant at the top had few things in the menu. But we had loads of fun that day so it is a good place after all. Some areas are slippery so get an appropriate shoes with you 😅.

Nice journey up. Good views at the top and you can climb a bit further on steps/path with a handrail. The Panoramaweg (no handrail) is a good circular path at the top. About 30 mins to an hour. Safe but need at least trainers, walking shoes better. Summit a good few degrees cooler than down below, and can be breezy.
