Interesting museum which is entirely run by volunteers. I don't think that the Germans are very interested in historical sites. If this had been in England, it would be a successful and prosperous museum like Beamish.

Very interesting exhibition about the peat extraction, a lovely little train which used to carry the workers who were prisoners from the jail nearby and during the war were POW. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

We were here on site in July 2025. The history of this place is very exciting, for us the actually surprising thing is how far back the history of this place goes... We also booked a ride on the field railway for the museum visit, which was entertaining and certainly suitable for children. The lively museum is run by a dedicated association. A big thank you to the volunteers for that.
