We stopped by to have lunch. Great view of the church just opposite the Gasthof. We did not stay overnight but they do have rooms too. The weather was so nice we could sit outside in the beer garden and enjoy some amazing traditional food. The fish is very good. Also, the Windbeutel and the ice cream are really yummy. Can only suggest to stop by and eat here. Service is very friendly and quick.

This was one of my favorite meals I had in Bavaria! We had a great time sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. I highly recommend the braised ox cheek; it was incredible. If you're in the area, make sure you stop by!

The place looked great and was well-rated. My family and I arrived about 10 after 8 pm. It was fairly crowded with good energy and nearly everyone had a plate of food in front of themselves. The folks seated us, then after a few minutes our waiter advised us the kitchen was closed and had a good chuckle with some of the neighboring tables with ‘American’ interspersed in their banter. It was incredibly uncomfortable and downright rude - their behavior. Fortunately, there was Taverne Lindos around the corner. They were incredibly friendly and the food was fabulous. Highly recommend Taverne Lindos (5-star review for that restaurant to follow). That it is affiliated with a hotel made the way they treated us/tourists even more shocking.

Definitely a reference in traditional 'simple' Bavarian cuisine at an excellent level. I can only recommend passing by.

There are really very few places in Germany that never disappoint, and the Gasthof Hinterwirt is one of them. Consistently sensational Bavarian specialties (their Schweinshax'n is utterly outstanding, fall-off-the-bone tender with a sublime crunchy crust) that are always homemade, with sauces that are that perfect Bavarian mix of sweet and savory, never cloying or overpowering. The service is as wonderful as the food. Reasonably priced, excellent value, great food and service.
