Chiemsee today: Gray, initially dry – from evening the risk of showers increases significantly

At Chiemsee, it will remain mostly overcast for long stretches today, May 15 (2026). Despite the thick cloud cover, it will stay mostly dry until the afternoon. From the evening, models predict a much higher likelihood of rain: During the night and in the morning, persistent light showers are very likely.

Until the afternoon: Overcast sky, hardly any sun, mostly dry

The day starts and continues until the afternoon with heavy to complete cloud cover. In the hourly forecast, the cloud cover remains at 8 out of 8 – meaning the sun has virtually no chance.

Despite the gray sky, it will initially remain mostly dry. Around midday, the risk of precipitation is at 45 percent – a value that mainly shows: rain is possible, but not yet to be expected throughout. Temperatures during the day range between 7 and 12 degrees, with about 11 to 12 degrees reached at midday.

There will also be a moderate, overall unremarkable wind: During the day, gusts between 12 and 26 km/h are possible.

From the evening: Significantly wetter – showers very likely

In the evening, the situation changes. Persistent light showers are then forecast, and the risk of precipitation rises to 90 percent. Temperatures drop to about 10 to 8 degrees during this period. For 6 to 10 pm, around 1.7 l/m² is calculated.

It remains changeable at night. Persistent light showers are expected at 8 to 7 degrees; the risk of precipitation remains at 90 percent. For the period from 10 pm to 6 am, about 5.7 l/m² is indicated.

The pattern continues in the morning: Between 6 and 12 am, 8 to 6 degrees are expected, again with persistent light showers and a 90 percent risk of precipitation. For this period, 4.3 l/m² is in the forecast. The wind then blows from west to northwest at around 13 km/h.

Conclusion

All in all, it will remain cool and consistently cloudy at Chiemsee – and increasingly wet from the evening. Anyone out later or early in the morning should plan for rain gear and expect a fresh 7 to 10 degrees.
