Reinhold Messner opens the view to the mountains of the world
On October 15, 2026, Reinhold Messner presents World Mountains – The 4th Dimension, a visually stunning multi-vision experience at the KULTUR + KONGRESS ZENTRUM Rosenheim. The focus is on thirteen selected world mountains, whose history, myth, and alpine significance become newly accessible through state-of-the-art visualization technology.
Satellite images become virtual summits
The production combines alpine adventure reports with three-dimensional, photorealistic representations. Based on satellite images from the German Aerospace Center, perspectives are created that far exceed classical mountain photography. Climbing routes, rock faces, and topographical relationships appear with unusual precision – as if a virtual expedition space opens before the audience.
The drama of departure
Reinhold Messner guides through the history of alpinism and connects geographical accuracy with personal experience. His storytelling transforms map material and summit views into lively stage moments: the mountain appears not only as a natural space but also as a cultural memory, as a stage for discovery, risk, ambition, and boundary experiences.
A stage experience between lecture and expedition
The technically brilliant images form the backdrop for an evening where knowledge and adventure intertwine directly. Acoustics, lighting mood, and large-format projections create a focused theater atmosphere. The audience follows historical expeditions, recognizes routes from new perspectives, and confronts the challenges of modern alpinism.
The fourth dimension of the mountain
Height, width, and length only incompletely measure a mountain. Its fourth dimension arises from stories, myths, memories, and human experiences. This is precisely where Messner's lecture begins: he views the world mountains as sites where natural history and human history overlap.
Conclusion: Reinhold Messner's World Mountains – The 4th Dimension promises an impressive stage experience for mountain lovers, culture enthusiasts, and all who wish to see landscapes with new eyes. Those who want to experience the fascination of great peaks, the precision of modern image technology, and the personal storytelling power of an experienced alpinist live will find an extraordinary evening at KUKO Rosenheim.
