Geoff Goodman Quartet: Jazz with Depth at Le Pirate
On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the Geoff Goodman Quartet will perform at the Rosenheim Jazz Club Le Pirate. The concert starts at 8 PM. The program features the release of the album Hot Cuisine of the Pirate Family – an evening for all who appreciate modern jazz, improvised soundscapes, and an intense live atmosphere.
Guitar Sound Between Jazz Tradition and Sound Research
Geoff Goodman is among the defining jazz guitarists of the Munich scene. The New York-born musician studied among others with John Abercrombie and Archie Shepp and has been living in Munich since 1986. His music combines nuanced harmony, open improvisation, and a strong curiosity for different musical traditions.
A Quartet with Musical Tension
Within the quartet, a lively dialogue emerges: guitar lines meet rhythmic precision, melodic density, and surprising twists. The orchestration remains fluid, while the musicians respond to each other in their interplay. Thus, the sound does not develop according to a fixed scheme, but grows from synchronization, conducting, and spontaneous stage performance.
Album Release at the Rosenheim Jazz Club
The release of Hot Cuisine of the Pirate Family gives the concert a special context. Le Pirate stands for focused club concerts with direct audience engagement. Between warm room acoustics, dim lighting, and attentive listening, jazz unfolds its strongest effect: immediate, nuanced, and full of small musical surprises.
Geoff Goodman as Versatile Band Leader
Goodman has released numerous albums with his own formations and has worked among others with Charlie Mariano, Mal Waldron, Tony Lakatos, Ed Schuller, Bill Elgart, and the group Embryo. His repertoire ranges from modern jazz to globally influenced projects. For his work, he received the 2011 Musikförderpreis from the City of Munich.
Conclusion: Experience Jazz Live and Up Close
The Geoff Goodman Quartet promises a focused concert evening with demanding sound, improvisational energy, and the special closeness of an established jazz club. Those who love modern jazz guitar and musical discoveries will experience an evening at Le Pirate that resonates long after.
