A road trip that even the cemetery longs for
When a 15-year-old meets a very lively old man and an adventurous journey across Europe is born from it, no holiday program remains comfortably on the couch. Hans-Jürgen Feldhaus brings a furious road story full of humor, depth, and surprising encounters to Bad Aibling Gymnasium with Crazy Schmidt ... and the Craziest Road Trip of My Life.
Henk, Mr. Schmidt, and a pretty crazy list
Henk is 15, new to the northern German province, and convinced that there is practically nothing to experience there except for a cemetery. Then he encounters Mr. Schmidt, who wants to find an old box with a list of forgotten life dreams at the grave of his great love Leslie. Out of youthful boredom comes a road trip that makes even the wildest class trip seem like an outing to the copier.
Stand-up energy meets literary timing
Hans-Jürgen Feldhaus narrates with quirky humor, sharp dialogues, and a keen sense of timing. His characters stumble through adventures, love, friendship, and the big questions of growing up. Comedic situations and contemplative moments alternate so naturally that the audience laughs first and then reflects on their own lives shortly thereafter.
A traveling company with maximum entertainment value
As they search for the box, the travel group grows step by step. A punk, a small fraudster, a cheerful caregiver, a biology student, and a remarkable dog create a colorful mix of chaos, charm, and plenty of explosives. Bolzano, Arles, a mountain climb, a car theft, a shell game, and even a bear are part of the adventure. The plot remains fast-paced, and the characters stay relatable.
Humor and depth for teenagers aged 13 and up
The focus is on love, death, friendship, and the question of what really counts in life. Henk experiences a coming-of-age story with humorous detours and serious turns. Feldhaus combines adventure novel, road movie atmosphere, and humorous reading into a laugh experience that appeals to young listeners as well as adults with a taste for good punchlines.
